What is an Infertility Procedure?

An infertility procedure is a treatment that helps you and your partner try to get pregnant. It can be stressful for everyone involved, and may cause mental health issues. It’s important to seek professional help from a therapist if you or your partner experience depression or anxiety during fertility testing, pregnancy and parenthood.난임시술잘하는곳

Fertility tests and treatments aren’t always successful, and you and your doctor need to prepare for this. If you’re able, discuss alternatives like adoption or using a gestational carrier with your partner as early as possible in the infertility evaluation process. This can reduce stress if the treatments don’t work and help you decide whether a particular option is right for you.

The first step in infertility treatment is to have a gynecologist or urologist perform a complete medical evaluation. This includes a pelvic exam and blood tests to check for hormone imbalances that can prevent ovulation and the opening of the fallopian tubes. They’ll also feel (palpate) the uterus and abdomen for any abnormalities such as cysts, scarring and growths that can interfere with fertility. A special type of x-ray called a hysterosalpingogram can check for blockages in the fallopian tubes or womb.

For women with a structural problem in their uterus such as a septum uterus or bicornuate uterus, surgery may be the only way to restore fertility. A doctor can use heat or a laser to remove the part of the uterus that causes these conditions. For a man, a surgical procedure called varicocelectomy removes enlarged veins in the scrotum that can interfere with sperm production.

If your evaluation shows that an ovulation or sperm problem is causing infertility, medications to stimulate the ovaries or sperm can be prescribed. Fertility drugs tell the ovaries to produce eggs and to be more receptive to sperm. During this time, you’ll have regular transvaginal ultrasounds and blood tests to check the health of your ovaries and sperm.

After your ovulation and sperm medications have done their job, you might have an in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure. IVF combines the couple’s best eggs with the sperm under a microscope in a laboratory to achieve fertilization and implantation. In some cases, a specialized technique called intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is used to improve the odds of fertilization by inserting a single healthy sperm directly into the mature egg. In other cases, frozen embryos from previous IVF cycles or donated sperm or eggs are used to create a pregnancy.서울아이앤여성의원
