How a Hair Transplant Works
If your hair is thinning or balding and other treatments like topical medications and shampoos haven’t worked for you, a hair transplant may be an option. It is an operation that moves healthy hair from a part of your head to another, where it will grow naturally. It might take some time for new hair to appear, and the transplanted hair can shed, but it will eventually regrow. Most patients are pleased with their results.부산모발이식병원
Your dermatologist will examine your scalp and talk to you about your expectations. They might also order blood tests to check if there are things going on in your body that could cause hair loss, and can do a biopsy to see what’s happening underneath the skin of your scalp.
They’ll advise you whether you can have the surgery at an NHS clinic or if they recommend you go private. If you go to a private clinic, it’s best to find out if they are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). That means you can be sure the hospital or clinic is safe and that you’ll have an experienced surgeon carrying out your surgery.
A hair transplant is usually done under local anaesthetic and sedation, so you won’t feel any pain. But if you are anxious, you can discuss having a general anaesthetic with your doctor.
After the operation, you’ll have a dressing on your head for a day or two. You can remove it when you’re ready. Your doctor will give you instructions about caring for your scalp and any bandages, and might recommend a spray to help with healing and growth.
Hair transplants can be carried out in many ways, but most involve removing a strip of hair from the back of your scalp and then implanting it at the area that needs more growth. The strip is divided into 500 to 2,000 tiny grafts, each with an individual hair or group of hairs. Your surgeon might use a scalpel or needle to make holes or slits in the area where they will insert the grafts. They might also make punch holes with a tool called a micro-punch, then gently place the grafts in those holes.
Some surgeons prefer to use follicular unit extraction, or FUE, where the surgeon uses a punch tool to remove the hair follicles directly from the back of your scalp. This method might leave a little more noticeable scarring on the back of your head, but it should fade quickly as your existing hair grows over it. If you’re worried about the scarring, your doctor might recommend a longer hairstyle or a medical tattoo to hide it.청담모바로의원
