Rhinitis is when a reaction occurs that causes nasal congestion, runny nose and sneezing. The symptoms can also affect the eyes and throat. The most common treatment for rhinitis is decongestants or antihistamines or a combination of the two. Some people find a steroid nose spray is very helpful too. Your doctor will determine the best type of medication for you and your rhinitis based on the results of your allergy test and a detailed history of your symptoms. This is a more intensive treatment option that can be done in the office and involves injecting a small amount of the allergen into your sinuses.
